Karstification Processes in Haditha Vicinity, West Iraq

In the valley of Euphrates River to south Haditha city (West Iraq), dissolution carbonate rocks which underlie residual soil gives rise numerous sinkholes. These sinkholes are a potential hazard human safety and damage existing infrastructure. The exposed in area under consideration belong Formation Early Miocene age, specifically Middle Member formation. Tens have developed with different shapes, sizes, activities, maturities, others development indicating that karstification process is still ongoing. Some spectacular scenes can be used for touristic purposes. has negative impact on infrastructure vicinity, especially Hadith Dam, where extraordinary treatments foundation dam were considered safe status.
